Set in the picturesque village of Spofforth, the Castle Inn is a traditional stone built building with a large area of land to the rear.
The client brief was to connect the main pub building to the derelict barn at the rear utilising
a modern single storey link and developing a multi-use space including the original pub and restaurant, 12 letting rooms, conference facilities, private dining rooms and an internal garden area complete with retractable roof to let the outdoors in.
Particular challenges with this project were its general state of disrepair and the formation of necessary drainage routes from the proposed letting room ensuites.
Over the course of a twelve week program the castle was transformed from local`s village pub to a drive to dining venue and hotel hat was desirable to both the local community and tourists alike.
