MGI were approach by the client to design and project manage a full Internal and external refurbishment of this dilapidated Grade II listed building located within a green belt area of Cheshire. This historic pub hails back to the 17th Century so all refurbishment works were carried out in a manner sympathetic to the site`s heritage in order to preserve the existing building, whilst also introducing complementary, contemporary features which revolutionised the pub’s new look .

Changes made as part of this transformation included creating an external terrace area with a glazed pergola structure, new internal and external decorations plus significant restoration of historic floor and wall finishes. New toilet facilities were formed on the first floor in order to maximise available trade space on the ground floor.

With a focus on reclaimed fixtures and timber and antique furniture, paired with handmade terracotta tiling and areas of solid timber flooring the finished project has a warm and inviting atmosphere and feels like a true home from home to its customer base.

The success of this refurbishment resulted in it being short listed for the great British pub awards.
