A former managed house with a name steeped in history, the Shepley Spitfire was transferred over to the client’s tenanted pub estate and needed full internal and external refurbishment in order to lift the site`s standing within the local area. MGI were briefed to transform the site in order for it be able to operate successfully as both a drinker`s pub and a family friendly dining venue at the same time. In order to achieve this MGI designed a series of sliding screens which partitioned off the pub into 2 separate areas, 1 with poseurs, pool table and darts whilst the other area was set out with dining level furniture and fixed seating booths to provide a comfortable area in which people could eat. When the kitchen closed in the evening the screens could then be pushed back to allow drinking, live acts and dancing throughout the site.
When specifying fixtures and fittings, inspiration was drawn from the site`s name with liberal use of RAF colours and roundels, spitfire imagery, and custom furniture, whilst a bespoke feature wallpaper details the story of the Shepley spitfire from which the pub draws its name. Areas have been zoned utilising hard floor surfaces in the drinking area and carpeting through the dining area.
