Can I redecorate my Listed building without consent ?
A listed building can only be redecorated without consent if the proposed colours are a like for like match to the existing finish and the paint used is a traditional breathable paint product. For any changes to the colour of the paint or intent to paint previously unpainted surfaces listed building consent must be sought. It is advisable to discuss your proposal with the relevant local authority conservation officer to ensure there are no local requirements over and above national listed building law, for example some towns insist that all buildings are decorated externally to an agreed colour palette such as the town of Malton Nr York.
